I had people talking bad about my dad when yes I agree he didn’t act in the best way, but come on now some things said were unnecessary. Some people were just clowning on me. One guy didn’t believe me because I didn’t drop everything while driving to take a picture. He further went on to accuse me of being a past Oppo who did some bad things here and then just harass me further. I’m in shock. Here I thought I found a good car oriented forum with good people. I’m not saying it’s all of you, 99% of you are chill and good people with a sense of humor, and I’m not mad. (well, not at all of you, mostly just one guy at the moment) just surprised and tired and disappointed. Im not the type of guy to get offended at all but this was just fflat out ridiculous. Like i said, not all of you, mostly one. That just solidified how bad of a day today was. I hope tomorrow I will just wake up and everything will be good again, no hate or uncalled for sarcasm (only some sarcasm allowed if you catch my drift). Just peace.

Then again, when has the world ever worked like that.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think anyone, or at least most people, thought you did anything wrong there .

Your dad gave you a really irresponsible directive and then pulled a gun, which, everything else problematic about that aside, could have ended with someone dead if the other people were armed and responded in kind (or if they just freaked out and caused a pile up).

Don’t take it personally. Most of us are older and have done some pretty reckless shit, which just makes us all the more sensitive to stuff like this.

Its not so much that, more about the guy who was harassing me and trying to accuse me of being that jdentrol guy. You'll see him on that post. That, and the fact that there was people who starred that? That just makes me wonder who has something against me and who doesn't and its upsetting. Might just be that I overthink everything as always but this one seemed a lot more obvious than when I usually conclude myself as overthinking.

I can’t really comment on that, since I have no idea. I will say that Oppo regularly ends up with a few people who try and push each other’s buttons to the extent they can without getting attention from mods, and it always ends with someone having an off day and losing it and getting banned. It’s better to just not engage.

Don’t get angry at me but this is what I think.

1. Your father should not carry a gun. I don’t give a shit how stressed he is. This instance alone warrants that his permit is recinded. I don’t care about the BMW driver at all in this entire exchange.

2. It’s OK that you guys feel stressed, and it’s OK that you use oppo to loosen up. My parents were terrible driving instructors and it took me a few months to gather up enough courage to ignore their unreasonable pettitions.

Have something clear: YOU are at the wheel, and you should do what you feel comfortable doing. If your parents are pushing you too hard, let them know. You can take your time but safety (and feeling comfortable) is the top priority when driving, and it’s harder when parents start shouting.

3. I feel that many people who critizised your father did so in a constructive manner. It is important that he takes care of his mental health, specially if you mention this escalating conflict that he alone caused. It is also important that you learn from this instance rather than double down on defending your father. Said man made a big mistake that you can learn a lot from.

4. Maybe you should ignore someone if they're harrasing you. I do it all the time, save the energy for something more useful.

Lastly, I hope you feel better soon, and that your Honda’s AC gets fixed.

I regret it caused you any harassment and hope you just learned to dismiss him/her that was harassing you. Seriously, screw that person.

I had a troll on here a couple of months ago and I allowed it to get to me. I learned quite a bit from it that even safe places have the odd a-hole or can be reached by someone choosing to be an a-hole.

We’ve all done things in the moment thinking, ‘I got to get through this’, when what is needed is to just be the bigger person and step back and say, ‘they are being a douche (either online or real life) and I’m not going to lower myself to their level’.

The whole thing was a clusterfuck but I sincerely hope your okay and you get looked at if your head injury gets any worse, at all.

Its funny, I was on my way back from the doctor when this shit went down. But I’m doing better than earlier, still have a headache but it’s more like that one time I got out of t he Odyssey to take pictures of a 911 that pulled up beside us and when I got back in the car just bunked the hell out my head on the door frame. That wasn't fun but I recovered so I'm hoping this ends up the same. I said what I said about your dad because it’s a real concern. If it’s truly 100% out of his character, talk to him about leaving the gun at home when he’s stressed out, or at the very least talk to him about how stress and emotions plus guns equals people dead and/or your dad in prison. You don’t want your dad in prison any more than he wants to leave his family to go to prison. Being really stressed out won’t hold up as a defense in court if he has to answer for menacing/brandishing his weapon or mis using his weapon. A cool head is key.

I think youre cutting Oppo too much slack sometimes. Not only you, but I’m amazed at what some people post on here sometimes. I think this whole notion of ‘we’re one big happy family’ is the biggest mistake you can make, especially on such an open blog that is Oppo.

You see, the truth is, we’re not one big happy family. We’re a bunch of strangers, gathered on this blog because of our shared interest and love for cars (although I sometimes wonder if certain people on here are actually here for their love of cars and not maybe....I dont know...boosting their ego/self-esteem...?) And some people are here to troll and only to troll. That’s something you need to remember. I’m not only talking about that keyboard hero that harassed you, but also the people that starred his comments.

Having said that, I dont think you should remove this post or the earlier one or any posts you’ve made here. I’ve seen people post worse shit on here, that looked a lot more like call-out, name shaming, whatever-you-want-to-call-it posts than yours.

I read your post too and yeah, I do have an opinion, but I have absolutely no interest in beating a dead horse. There are at least 4 or 5 people that have pretty much said what I’d have wanted to say, no need to post the same thing over and over again.
